THE NEW DACHSTEIN MOUNTAIN STATION – A TRUE ENERGY CRYSTAL
In June 1969 the Dachstein cable car ran for the first time, paving the way for an impressive success story on the rooftop of Styria and Upper Austria. And after more than five decades the mountain station has now undergone a comprehensive interior and exterior transformation.
Externally the new mountain station catches the eye with a photovoltaic glass facade, which is able to provide up to 80% of the energy required by the mountain station. The centrepiece, however, is the brand-new glacier restaurant with a 280-degree view, including a large outdoor terrace. The new “Sky bar” on the top floor offers a view of the impressive south faces of the Dachstein.
NEW PERSPECTIVES – VIEWING EXPERIENCES AROUND THE MOUNTAIN STATION
“Take a deep breath and feel the energy of the mountain scenery“ – the newly-created viewing platforms around the mountain station invite the visitor to replenish their energy.
And a particular adrenaline rush is provided by the Dachstein Stairway to Heaven. Twelve steps lead up to the glass pedestal, from where a breathtaking view to the Dachstein opens up.
In addition to the Dachstein Stairway to Heaven a host of further attractions are also included in the cable car ticket:
- Half Dome Globe – an interactive globe in the valley station
- Digital binoculars with a view of the Koppenkarstein
- Insta-friendly engagement spot for a perfect selfie with a view of the Dachstein
- APPtauen app – an interactive online tool to find out about the evolution of the Hallstätter glacier
- “Energy Crystal” art object close to the mountain station
- Dachstein Suspension Bridge, the Ice Palace and other attractions – to further enrich your Dachstein visit.

A FIXED SEAT BOOKING FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE DACHSTEIN ADVENTURE
Do you already have the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card or another valid ticket? We definitely recommend that you book a fixed seat. Due to the strong demand a gondola trip can only be guaranteed with a fixed seat booking. The booking fee is €2.90 per person.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- Please note that the toll fees for road use must be paid if the gondola is not used. The toll for the Dachstein road is included for gondola use. Please stamp your toll ticket in the machine in the Dachstein mountain station so that you enjoy free use of the road.
- Our offering on the Dachstein glacier is heavily dependent on snow and weather conditions in the summer months. In the glacier report you will find up-to-date daily information on snow and weather conditions, pistes and lifts, cross-country trails and the additional offering on the Dachstein glacier.
